example is Pierre Dawens in Canaan, who I asked Pastor Samedy about as we took his picture with his orange shirt and bright, toothy grin.

Dawens is 8 years old and hopes to start the 2nd grade in the 2015-16 school year. He is the youngest in his family, a family that Pastor Samedy has known since they moved into Canaan and the church became a part of their story.

The Pierre family came to Canaan with very little, and no land to call their own. Pastor Samedy worked with church members to get them under a roof – and while the land is still not their own, they are thankful to have a place to sleep. With this level of financial struggle, the mother and father are waiting for the day that they are able to afford even a small wedding as they have grown in Christ since going to church in Canaan and approached Pastor Samedy asking him to perform the wedding. While this day has not happened yet, they are trusting God for the day it can happen as they focus on the day to day of feeding and providing for their five children.
