My trip to Haiti over the summer was truly life changing.  I was able to do and learn so much from being in Haiti and also got the opportunity to build many relationships.  I think one of my favorite things we got to do was constantly spend time with the kids who lived in the village where we were staying.

I noticed right away how loving the people in Haiti were. Kids always wanted to play games with us, braid our hair, want us to pick them up and give them piggy back rides, and follow us wherever we went.  One day we had a bible camp day for the kids and they got to color pictures and so many of the kids coloring their pictures, wrote “I love you” on the back and gave them to us, even kids I had just met two minutes ago. This impacted me the most, seeing how much love all the kids had when some of them were sleeping on dirt floors and didn’t even have clean water to drink or food to eat.

Another one of my favorite things we did in Haiti was have a worship night with Pastor Chelo and the church. I remember it was extra hot that day and I was so sweaty and tired but once I got around the kids it was like I forgot all about it and had such a fun time worshiping with the kids and their families. Even the days following, kids would run up to us singing the songs we all sang together with big smiles on their faces and it was like another worship night would start all over again.

I loved my week in Haiti so much and am so thankful for the experience and all it taught me.
