I’m not called to be a pastor. I can’t plant a church. I’m not holy enough to be a missionary. I don’t have my degree. I didn’t go to school for that. I’m a nobody. I don’t have anything of value for anyone… Even if I did, they wouldn’t listen to me. I don’t have any special skills or gifts to do anything. I’m not good enough…

These are all common doubts and lies that are constantly thrown into our minds to deceive us from believing that God cherishes us and desires us! God gives each of us purpose and direction! We have to fight these voices in our heads that fearfully hinder us from living in our full intention.

You may have heard the truth, “God does not call the qualified, he qualifies the called.” Well, it’s true. Ever since creation, God simply longed to be with you. But, sin entered into the world separating God and man. Ever since then, God has been wooing us back to His presence… all because He just wants to be with us and delight in us! God has been writing the redemption story and it involves you!

The world needs you.. it needs you to plant that church. After all, it takes all types of churches to reach all types of people. Someone needs that para-church ministry that you have a dream of starting. Someone needs you to be bold enough to put on the courage to be a missionary. Not because you are a superhero or the first-round pick… but because God wants to do something in you that will influences others. Faith inspires faith. The greatest proof of Jesus’ life is the transformation of our personal lives. Show people that you surrendered your life to God and He will provide you with purposeful joy that comes with the peace of building His kingdom! So…

Do I Need a Degree to Have an Influence in the World?

No. You need to pursue Jesus and nothing but Jesus. A collegiate degree does not equip you to lead well, Jesus does.

But, will a Bible degree help equip me? Well, possibly. The paradigm is shifting. Right now, degrees still matter. They matter to the generations above us. They mattered to people in Biblical times too. Paul’s education underneath of Gamaliel, who was recognized with great esteem by all Jews for his teaching of the Law, only gave more influence to Paul. Paul had the best education he could get and it mattered to the Jews that God commissioned Paul to speak with. Degrees do matter, we just need to realize the vast changes happening in our culture.

Education is changing beneath our feet and the Church needs something new! The mission and intent was always to equip leaders to empower the Church, but culture is demanding that the methodology of how we do that changes. People that want to use their life to build the Kingdom are coming out of college and seminary in extreme debt and with little actual experience. That’s the exact opposite of what we want to do. Breathe Partners wants to develop young leaders that are debt-free, that have real ministry-experience, and that are mission-ready through CompassionCorp!

1 Corinthians 1:27-29 (NASB)

“But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, so that no man may boast before God.”
