Church Partnership

The goal as christians is to reach every different culture and people group around the world, and the only way to achieve this is by having church to church partnership. With a very divided United States, I believe that christians need to unify and work as one people rather than focusing on the different problems of the world and falling on different sides of the problem. Now, I could go on and on about the problems in America, but that is not what I want this blog to be about. I want to focus on how church to church partnerships between different countries is desperately needed at this moment in our culture.

I am from the United States and all of my knowledge of the church stems from the western culture, so I am writing this from an Americans point of view. As of 2015, approximately 75% of Americans claim to be Christian. While I believe that this number is very debatable, I believe that we have potential to reach every unreached people group around the world. In order for this to happen, churches need to send out missionaries to proclaim the gospel all around the world. Once churches send out missionaries to create disciples that create disciples, churches will be built and church to church partnerships will take root. This is how we reach the world.

This sounds much easier than it actually is, but this is the goal that every christian should strive for. Now, I understand that not everyone is called to be a missionary, but this is the Great Commission as stated in, Mathew 28. And, if we call ourselves Christians, we are missionaries that are sent out wherever we are in the world.

Sent to Haiti

God called me to Haiti, and my hope is that all of the country can be reached one day. I can not reach all of Haiti, and I am most likely not going to have a long lasting effect at all, but I know that I can make a difference in at least one person’s life. This is where church to church partnership in third world and unreached places can make a significant impact.

My first trip to Haiti was about a year-and-a-half to two years ago. But, just in that short time, I have seen a huge difference in how the people in Bercy, Haiti have changed. There seems to be more hope and energy running through the people. I have also seen the local church explode. More and more people are coming to Christ, and Christ displays hope in every one that reaches out to him.

I understand there is a fine line between toxic charity and providing needs for the impoverished, but if an American church can help a pastor from another country start a church, amazing things can happen. I am a student in just one organization, so this is what I have seen and what I believe is vital for foreign missions. Church to church partnerships have changed communities and eventually those local churches will send out missionaries of their own and the world will change.

Partner to Multiply

I do not claim to have all of the knowledge or answers of how all of this can be done, but I have seen a tiny community in Haiti become changed by the power of God. I have heard stories from other missionaries that have been in Haiti for five to ten years; and, the stories that they tell are almost impossible to imagine based on how much the country has changed. All of my foreign missions experience has taken place in Haiti, but I believe church to church partnership in the world can take root and take over; partnership is a solution to multiply the church.

We as believers were made for community, we can not do life alone. I hope to see the world rapidly change in my life time and I hope to see lost people become found. In Mark 2, Jesus talks about how the sick need healed, not the healthy. The world is a very lost and sick place, but through Christ it can be healed. Amazing things happen when we become unified together working towards the same purpose.
